Storm Katrina became Hurricane Katrina a
hour or two before making landfall along the
southeast Florida coast near Ft Lauderdale /
Miami area's.
Weathervine chased mostly in Broward County
in the Ft Lauderdale Beach location along
A1A. Was quite impressed with how strong the
winds were and the amount of damage taking
place. Spent the rest of the afternoon into the
evening hours shooting video and recording
winds speeds as Katrina moved inland over
southern Florida. Katrina did kill a little over 10
people in the South Florida area, mainly from
falling tree's and power poles.
Katrina then exited the southern Florida
mainland and brushed the Keys. Then Katrina
went on to become a very intense category 5
hurricane in the Gulf and making another
landfall along the Louisiana and Mississippi
coast. This hurricane would come to be known
as the 2005 killer storm.
